What is a Root Canal Treatment?

A “Root Canal” is a cavity in the center of your tooth that contains a nerve and a “pulp” of soft tissue, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Because the pulp has become diseased or infected, Root Canal Treatments are usually required.

We will remove the pulp and replace it with material that will seal off your entire root canal during treatment. This new material will help prevent future disease or infection of your tooth.

Local anesthesia is used to complete Root Canal Treatments, which have a 90% success rate. You will be able to drive home without difficulty following your procedure, and you should feel at ease returning to your normal routine following your visit.

What Happens after a Root Canal?

We will send a record of your treatment to your dentist once your Root Canal Treatment is completed. Contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of your Root Canal Treatment. Your dentist will determine the type of restoration that is required for your tooth. You should continue to practice good dental hygiene to avoid further decay.

Please see the button at the bottom of the page for more information about After Root Canal Treatment.

Patients rarely experience complications as a result of their treatment. Please contact our office at (860) 583-8379 if a complication occurs.
